WARNING – Equivalency and the Generic Optical Glass Code

EQUIVALENCY: No warranty is expressed or implied that material classified with the same standardized military  numerical code is equivalent to each other. Most of the major manufacturers' products meet or exceed the quality requirements of the military procurement standard (MIL.-G-174-B). However, it is the responsibility of the users to verify the material being consider does meet the military standards and/ortheir own specific needs.

As for the glass types listed by country in the compendium, the user has the responsibilty to research which companies in that country are offering the material and if their products will meet the standards established by Mil-G-174B or exceed those standards. A comparison should be made against the published standards of other well known manufacturers.
