SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Use sufficient local exhaust to reduce the dust. Use self-contained breathing apparatus, NIOSH approved, to avoid dust or fumes generated during fire fighting efforts.

PRIMARY ROUTE(S) OF ENTRY: EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE (EO) OR FIRST AID (FA):
INHALATION: Breathing dust may result in irritation to the throat & nose.

 

Handle with adequate ventilation with nuisance dust see OSHA 29 CFR 1910.94 (ventilation) & CFR1910.1000 (air normal clean-up procedures).

If airborne concentrations exceed established exposure limits, an approved NIOSH filter type respirator should be worn.

Remove to fresh air, obtain medical assistance.

INGESTION: All accidental ingestion of dust or slurry may cause irritation of the digestive tract. Obtain first aid or medical assistance if needed,

Drink large amounts of water if patient is conscious

SKIN: Not absorbed through the skin. Contact with broken skin may result in redness, burning, swelling & skin damage. Remove contaminated clothing & flush affected area with large amounts of water if patient is conscious.

Gloves recommended

EYE: Dust may irritate eyes. Contact with dust or slurry nay be abrasive & irritating causing tearing & redness. Wash with large amounts of water, obtain medical assistance. Avoid rubbing eye, it may cause scratching of the eye.

SECTION VI - SPILL, LEAK & DISPOSAL

2. Hazardous decomposition will not occur.

3. Spill Procedures: Use non-dust methods - vacuum and place into a container that can be closed for disposal, or flush with water. Do not dry sweep. Flush spilled material into suitable retaining areas or containers with water to avoid airborne particulate. Keep upwind. Wear proper protective equipment.

  2. Use a disposable damp rag to wipe up slurry and dry powder.
  3. Use good personal hygiene when working with the compound - wash hands, etc.
